The Wooburn Singers and the New Mozart Orchestra in partnership with Wooburn Festival presented an exciting Gala performance to celebrate 50 years of music-making.  The programme included Mozart’s fabulous Coronation Mass chosen to also celebrate the Queen's 90th birthday.  The venue was held in the spacious Buckinghamshire New University Events Hall in High Wycombe

The Wooburn Singers were founded almost 50 years ago by the late Richard Hickox.  The group performs 4-5 concerts a year in the area with concert tours every other year. The group of 50 singers perform a variety of musical genres.  Some concerts are a capella and others are accompanied by baroque orchestras, harps, and on occasion a jazz trio.  The choir is under the baton of Tom Hammond-Davies.

The New Mozart Orchestra was founded in 1977 and is based in London.  The orchestra is formed from 15 to 35 freelance players as venue and performance dictate.  NMO has received acclaim for its high quality performances - especially on London's South Bank.

The NMO does valuable work in enthusing and advancing the musical aspirations of children and students, both in schools and other music education settings.

The musicians are all highly regarded professional orchestral players/soloists and many are involved in outreach/leadership activities.  Its Principal Conductor and Artistic Director is Clive Fairbairn.

Coronation Mass

Zadok the Priest

For those of you who might be interested in the history of the Wooburn Festival; the first Wooburn Festival Choral Concert was performed 50 years ago and the programme included the Coronation Mass and Zadok the Priest.   So it is fitting that we celebrate the Queen’s 90th birthday and the Wooburn Festival’s 50th season with this wonderful music.
